Freedom in Loneliness

I happen to be that someone who's addicted to being alone. Don't get me wrong, I ain't anywhere near to the intention of shutting down the connections with the world around me.

But I fell in love with the beauty of freedom in silence. Personally to me, birds symbolize freedom simply because they can fly. But not all birds can. So what happens to the birds which can't fly? They'll still enjoy their freedom, in their own way. They are the exceptions, and I'd be happy to be that exception.

I enjoy stopping and snapping pictures of birds. I adore the silence they break with their chirps. I love the sound of their flapping wings.

Dinner in Grill & Co.

Last night was a little frustrating. I & my twin has been planning to gulp some booze in some of our top choices lots. Sadly, most of the places we went to were full and therefore ended up in Grill & Co.

When we arrived, there weren't many customers. We were greeted and welcomed as the waiter brought us to our seat. It was hot so I was actually looking for any seat with air-conditioners. We can even barely feel the fan. So, I just ask my sister to quickly order up, eat and leave. But then, she was too hungry and insisted that we spend a little longer there.

It was kind of dark, but the ambience was nice. They played acoustic and relaxing songs in the background suits the decoration and the set up of the place. Since the place is kind of dark, my phone can't actually snap a good decent photo.

There were not many choices from the menu, mostly western and of course, grilled food. But we chose to just go for light food and snacks.

My sister ordered herself a lamb chop with black pepper sauce and they taste just fine. The price was below RM 20, so it's alright I guess. The plate was served with two pieces of lamb chops and the everything taste good, except for the black pepper sauce.

I, on the other hand, ordered snacks, french fries and chicken nuggets (I forgot to snap some pictures of the nuggets). Truth be told, the fries taste (obviously) like the frozen fries we usually brought to eat at home. It was a little disappointing actually.

Overall, I'd say I'll still be coming back to this place. There's a huge potential that this place is going to develop much better, may it be the menu or the place itself. We both had our tummy full and went back lightheaded.

Lunch in The Little Road House, Sibu

Food hunters are probably used to this situation; googling and searching for places to eat based on the reviews, recommendations posted on social media. Looking for this Little Road House went exactly as such. We have been looking for this place quite some time and later then ended up going somewhere else.

Then it was a miracle! We found it. The restaurant is situated just above the McDonald's lot (why can't we find it earlier? Must've been too blind).

I love me some local Asian foods, especially if they are with meat and served in big portions.

The Little Road House restaurant wasn't an exception. The fact that I was amazed by the servings got me giggled a little too much.

The price wasn't so bad either. The meat may look a little expensive, but wait until you taste them, OMG. They are so worthy of your cash.

The waiter brought us to our seats of four, we sat and the menu was distributed.

I fell in love with the environment and ambience. It matches the asian-like theme, a bit dark but who cares, as long as I can see and eat my foods.

We ordered ourselves a plate per person and some side dishes like vegs and tofu.

Mamma Mia, what's better than food? The Salted Fish Fried Rice and the Cantonese Char Kuey Teow were in big portion as if they are supposed to be eaten by 4 people!

The pricing for each didn't even reach RM 10, it's a steal.

No judging but, even though they are in big portions, we managed to finish them, like a boss.

Okay, now I'm back to being hungry. Again. Gosh.

Anyways, cheers~

Lang Leav Inspired Bookmarks

Who doesn't love Lang Leav's collections? The thing about her collections is that the poems are simple but deep. Poems don't have to be written in high-cultured words with artistic complexity. Rather, it touches the deepest when words are comprehensible by the heart and feelings.

But of course, poetry isn't for everyone.

For me, poem always has a special spot in my heart. Individual differences.

To those who do, you can get yourself a copy of these Lang Leav's inspired bookmarks I designed myself.

They are available in PDF format, free to use and of course, credit them to me as these should not be redistributed for business profit without my consent.

Best printed on solid coloured papers. I printed mine on recycled brown paper. Looks great to me.

Upstairs Coffee, Sibu, Sarawak.

The Upstairs Coffee is the youngsters kind of cafe, where you can relax and enjoy flipping your books over a latte or some sorts. I went in for my third visit with my sister.

I fell in love with the ambience of the cafe, inspired by rustic and coffee inspired tables and chalkboards. This kind of cafe surely will take in any visiting customers into the perfect feeling for coffee sipping. I realized, there aren't many changes since my last visit, but I noticed the list on the menu chalkboard is longer.

We were greeted by the staff at the counter, she was the only one working during our visit. She was very bubbly and greeted us kindly. We ordered ourselves Iced Latte, Matcha Green Tea Latte, New York Cheesecake and a box of Cheese Creampuffs.

We ordered just a few, enough to spend the time for chit-chatting about my travels. My sister has always been a great fan and listener for my every babbles.

And oh my god, would u look at the greens! I had always been a fan of matcha.

I took the chance to have a read on the magazine. Talking coffees and cafe.

I and my sister argued to have a bigger share of this piece since she has always been a fan of New York Cheesecake. I'm glad the cakes they serve wasn't so bad as most cafe would have their cakes tasted super sweet. But this baby, it was just nice.

One thing is like about the creampuffs they served, cuteness...and surely because I loved to eat cream puffs too. The ones they served wasn't an exception from goodness. They tasted just awesome.

A quote a day.

About an hour later, I invited my elder sister who just came back from work, she walked in and went straight to the counter to get this baby.

together with this Horlicks Crepe too. Yums!

Even though it was my third visit to this place, the reason I keep coming back to this place is that of the things they serve and how this place made me feel. Special. Calm. Relaxed. Perhaps because of coffee too.

They're open 7 days a week, from morning to late night, with the mission "to have the best taste of coffee".

Master Lee's Klang Claypot Bak Kut Teh

Whenever I crave for pork, Bak Kut Teh is always on the list. And, when we talk of Bak Kut Teh, it all goes back to Klang, where the best Bak Kut Teh is served. Well, perhaps.

We were served by the workers, mostly the locals, as the manager is a Chinese guy. But, the longer we sit there, we find out that the manager goes along very well with his workers. They made a lot of jokes and we laughed at their conversations quite often too.

These are the menu and they are, of course, not halal. The moment I glanced at the menu, I knew I must go for my favourite in the Bak Kut Teh, the intestines and the tripe. Sadly, it was not available during that day. So I went for three-layer meat, the leg and ribs.

Each serving is served with fritters and fried beancurd sheets. The  different things in the pot complements the dish perfectly.

The hot soup has a very strong herbal smell but the taste wasn't that so bitter. It was just right. I could tell that the broth has been cooked for long hours, along with the meat as they appear tender and rich in flavours. Plus, they allow us to refill the broth over and over again. It worth the cost.

The ambience wasn't so bad either. It was air-conditioned but wasn't enough to keep us from sweating, since the soup is hot and hot chillies made it worse. But, there's no stopping.

The total bill came up to RM 40+. Lucky us, they didn't charge us for the white rice because my sister got herself an expired coupon, but they still gave us the specialities *wink.

Cheers~

Fallen Heroes: Kundasang War Memorial

Kundasang War Memorial Park, Ranau. I was here in 2012, 2014, 2015 and recently I visited this place once again. Obviously, when someone keeps coming back to a place they used to be, the place must've been very special to them.

Kundasang War Memorial wasn't an exception.

The first time I came here, tears were pooling in my eyes. It was a place of memories, tribute and love.

There was a list of the fallen heroes in the Death March as a tribute to them. This place gave me goosebumps. Not because of any paranormal reasons. But because of how much this place reminds me of the value of freedom. Freedom wasn't easy to achieve. But this place reminds us that, freedom wasn't impossible either.

It was monsoon season. It rained. Then I cried.

Cheers~
